KRIMPER

photo

Description: If not for the pink paper sticky-taped to the doors we may well have missed this super find in the city block between La Trobe and Lonsdale, Elizabeth and Queen streets (google maps it – more laneways per square metre than any other section of our laneway loving city!).  Krimper is a big old converted warehouse with a super trendy (though very dark) interior, chatty staff and a great menu (with daily specials to keep things interesting).  There’s a large dining space, which meant the several tables of customers were well spaced out and no need to negotiate queues of people lining up for takeaways – a welcome change!

We ordered: Corn fritters w soft boiled egg and other delicious things we missed the names of | Orange blossom spelt waffle w banana, blueberries, ricotta and maple syrup

The Verdict: Relatively new to town, Krimper is on a fast track to becoming one of our favourites.  Though a bit of a puzzle to find (especially with the construction work currently going on in the area) this cafe served up a delicious breakfast, good coffee and the wait staff were just the right kind of attentive – not annoying but quick to take our order and deliver it to the table.  A winner!

The Vitals:

  • Skinny latte – $4 (Proud Mary beans)
  • Eggs on toast – Eggs any way with toasted soliders $9
  • Muesli option – $9.50 (housemade granola)
